FAQ: Web Hosting Basics

What is virtual hosting?
Virtual Hosting is a solution that allows a company or individual to lease part of a web server to store their website's data, rather than pay for an entire dedicated machine with more space and power than they need. As part of our virtual hosting we provide a dedicated IP address as opposed to a shared IP.

Do you offer dial-up Internet access?
Web Rhino is not an Internet Service Provider (ISP) and does not offer dial-up service. This service is provided by such commercial outlets as AOL, Prodigy and CompuServe. We will be happy to refer you to a dial-up ISP if you need assistance. You will need a dial-up account if you wish to retrieve your Email or work on your Web site personally.

What is SSL?
Your customers can safely order your products or services online! Normally, any text sent from your browser is sent as plain text. This means that a hacker could potentially intercept the information sent from your browser and read it. Our servers are equipped with the latest SSL technology.

How long will it take for my account to be setup?
Web Rhino will have your account up within 2-12 hours. We begin processing your account the same business day it is received, or the next business day if it is after hours. Once your account is activated, you will receive a welcome email from Web Rhino with your relevant account information. We cannot activate the account until payment is received–that is, until your check is received or your credit card is approved. If your account is not setup within 24 hours, please contact www.rhinosupport.com to make sure there were no errors in your order.
